Pain caused by problems with the Sciatica nerve is a common complaint. There are some exercises you can do to reduce the pain, but you must do these correctly for them to be effective. There are videos available online that also gives you exercises aimed at helping your problem, and your doctor can also show you some strategies for controlling the pain. The important thing is to do these therapies correctly on a daily basis to achieve relief. Below are five exercises you can do which are proven to help with Sciatica nerve pain.

Yoga may be one of the best ways to increase your level of physical fitness. Yoga exercises such as “foot on the block, torso twist, and the shoulder stand,” work to decrease the symptoms of sciatica pain. But the practice of yoga may not only help improve your physical health but your brain health as well. Yoga does not need to be complicated to show results. Eve basic yoga exercises may lead to a significant impact on one’s health.

Individuals experiencing discomfort from Sciatica nerve damage need to perform daily stretching exercises. While standing, bend your upper torso as much as possible as this will help repair the damage that has been caused. An additional, although easy maneuver, is to position both hands on the lower back and gaze upwards, hold this for approximately 10 seconds and then release. Laying stomach down on the floor and lifting your upper torso in an arch and then holding before releasing is another more advanced yet beneficial exercise.

If your sciatica-related pain will allow you to do so, consider attempting some curl downs. Similar to sit-ups, curl downs are completed with the hands crossed on your chest. It’s important to keep your spine absolutely straight while performing the up-and-down motion, and be sure to keep your knees bent.

Sleep lying on the back, take a deep breath in, and then rise up the upper body. Remain this way as long as possible. Now, exhale slowly as you go back into the original position. This exercise will help you to relieve the sciatic nerve pain.

Gentle exercise can help relieve back and leg pain. The following exercise can be very helpful! Lie on your stomach with your legs extended straight. Lift one leg from the hip joint (don’t strain); bending at the knee, bring the lower leg to the upper leg. Hold this position for 10 seconds. Release the bend and lower the leg. Repeat move with the other leg.

For optimal relief of sciatica nerve pain, you should perform these sciatic nerve exercises at least twice daily, consistently for several weeks. Try doing them when you get up in the morning and before bedtime or on any other regular schedule that is convenient for you. After a few weeks, you should experience a noticeable reduction in pain.
